Since my daughter is now at the ripe old age of 13, I have to let her pick the fabric and what pattern I am going to use. I was not surprised when she picked Tigris Indigo. She is a HUGE animal lover and has always been drawn to animal designs and prints. I was excited as well as those are some of my favorite colors on her. The beautiful deep but bright blue enhances her eye color and the red accents her rosy cheeks and lips.

I currently have a thing for black and white photos so I took my favorite pic and editing it to black and white. While it does not show the fabric details I think it portrays more emotion.

I was working on my 1001 pattern (kidding) for Violette Field Threads, Olive, so naturally, I used it to make one for the blog tour. I did the top length since this teen prefers them over dresses.

Bountiful Holiday Blog Tour

Sharon Holland’s Bountiful Holiday Blog Tour…

Are you ready for the Holidays? Ok, admit it, you have already been listening to Christmas music!! My kids (I guess I can’t blame the kids) put it on the day after Halloween.

Buying Christmas gifts is one of my favorite and most stressful things to do this time of year. I am always striving to buy the right gift for each person but I always feel like I never hit the mark. Some of my favorite gifts our family has given to our friends was our homemade presents. This is year I told myself more homemade then store bought! Well I am off to a great start. This first gift is for my Niece, she is almost 2 and I think will love this little bunny!

This adorable bunny is made with Sharon Holland’s Bountiful fabrics in…

Perennial Renewal- Sweet Floral Print

and

Plain Weave Thatch- The perfect accent print

The Perennial Renewal print maybe my most favorite print from all of Sharon’s Collections. That is saying a lot since I love so many! It sweet, fresh and delicate!

Another great gift is a bag! Everyone needs a bag! Especially now that we need them at the grocery store. This one was made by my good friend Sue at Needle in a Fabric Stash.

Blue Shirt Blog Tour-Blue Carolina

Hey all,

Happy Thursday! I am over the moon with what I am sharing today! Christopher, The Tattooed Quilter, has been one of my favorite Quilters for years. I have been stalking , I mean following, him for quite some time on IG and was finally lucky enough to meet him in person at Spring Quilt Market. So why was he there? Well, he was introducing is FIRST fabric collection with Riley Blake called Blue Carolina! Me? Well, to drool over fabric of course! Silly!!

aanewEH4A4265

I am pretty sold on the fact this fabric line was made for my daughter! lol  Dogs are her favorite thing in the world! I am pretty sure she would own every dog in the world if we let her. Also Blue is such an amazing color on her, it really makes her blue eyes pop!!

aanewEH4A4336-2

While visiting Christopher’s booth at Quilt Market I fell head over heels in love with a top he had modeling his new fabric. I really really really wanted to draft a top similar for the tour but totally ran out of time since I am busy getting ready for new Fall and Winter patterns. Booo! Kidding! It is exciting to be drafting for the upcoming season, but it also limits my time for the fun extras. So I found a similar Simplicity pattern that I used and made some modifications to fit my daughter.

aanewEH4A4313

One such modification was I left the edge of the flounce raw. I zig zagged the raw edge which helps make for a distressed look. You could also add fray check if you want to make sure it does not continue to fray even more.

aanewEH4A4277

Can you see what is on the flounce fabric? Cut, Sew, Repeat

aanewEH4A4337

I typically take photos in a park or under a tree but Christopher asked us to take photos in an Urban setting. So when I first saw that photo above I was like OMG, there is a person and cars in my photo. NOOOOO! But honestly I love it now. It maybe my new favorite landscape for photos.  Funny thing is the women’s dress totally works to my favor. HA!!!

Wonderful Things Blog Tour- Going Home To Roost

WOT-blog-tour

The gentle whispers of joy fill our minds as positive affirmations bring inspiration and encouragement. Wonderful things inspires to delight with happy hues and delicate prints to uplift your spirits.

Hello All,

Welcome to the Wonderful Things Blog tour. Bonnie from Going Home to Roost created the Wonderful Things with the same beauty that she brings to all of her collections with Art Gallery Fabric. This collection has two color ways, Honest Whispers and Honeyed Wonders.

Honest Whispers is soft and subtle pastels while Honeyed Wonders is Bold and Bright.

aanewEH4A3520

My Grandmother is my Wonderful Thing (my favorite person). She is the Matriarch of our family and my last Grandparent alive. She is 92 years and only stopped working 2 years ago! She is delicate yet strong, strong minded yet compassionate, independent yet family focused. I would be lucky if I was half as amazing as she is. She is well know in our family for her amazing food. One of my favorite dished she makes is Menudo. I know, not everyone has a stomach for that dish. LOL

A couple of weeks ago she fell and cracked her femur.  Wait let me back up, She fell on a Friday did not tell anyone until the next day, because she did not want to disturb them. She only took some pain medicine and laid down. However the next day she could not walk. That is so her! Too strong for her own good! She is currently at a rehab facility and the Docs, Nurses and Physical Therapist are all blown away by her progress and determination to get back on her feet. They wanted to send her home last week because she is a rock star and already doing very well but the Doc requested one more X-ray and discovered, what they had previously thought was a cracked femur was actually a full break in the femur head. She is strong and determined to get back home and I am sure she will by this week.  I have always looked up to my Grandmother but more and more as I have gotten older I have prayed to be just like her. She raised 5 children, worked full time and cared for my Grandfather during his medical battles. She is also the oldest of 10 siblings which she also helped to raise. She is intertwined in every holiday tradition I have known since I was born and also in my kids lives. I could not be more proud of my family as well. I have watched them all rally around her. Cousins, Aunts, and Uncles have flown in for out of town to gather around her and support her healing.  Truly blessed to be apart of this wonderful family. Such a Wonderful Thing!

I love the Words to Live by.  I have been looking forward to making a top for my daughter to wear. I am secretly hoping she looks down at her shirt and is reminded to be true to herself!  Anything that can help a Mom out, I will take it!! Thanks Bonnie!
