New Pattern- LOL Swing Top by Jennuine Design (and discount)

Hello Beautiful,

Day 5 of the LOL Swing Top Tester Tour

Jennifer from Jennuine Design  has created the most adorable top, LOL Swing Top.  I mean just look at that back. Racerback with ruffles, YUMMY!

I had my fingers and toes crossed that I would be picked as a tester for this fabulous pattern. My daughter has become very picky and rarely wears dresses and skirts anymore so this was the perfect pattern for us.

Nitty Gritty:
*Sizes Newborn to 12
*A-line Design
*Can be made with knit or woven material
*Single Button Closure on woven version
*Racerback
*Top Length
*Bias Tape

As you can see above, the first top I made was in Knit and below is my Woven Version. I made a size 7 for Miss. T and after a few tweaks in testing it fit like a glove. The Woven Version has a single button closure and the Knit version slips easily over a child’s head. Its a great pattern with easy to follow instruction and clear illustrations.

IMG_6591I just LOVE the back to this Top, It puts the swing in LOL Swing Top! 🙂

IMG_6582      IMG_6580

The Front has light ruffling at the necklineIMG_6613 I can’t thank Jennifer enough for allowing me to test this pattern. I loved her attention to detail and was thankful for her putting in long nights answering all the questions I had. Because we all know we sew at night after we put the kids to bed.IMG_6643

Besides the LOL Swing Top Pattern, another favorite pattern of mine from Jennuine is the Matinée Dress/Top

Jennifer is offering a 20% discount on her new pattern for one week (ends August 7th)

The key steps to get the fitting just right…

Don’t go by your child’s usual size without looking at the Finished Garment Measurements chart. This dress is designed to be fitted at the shoulders and comfortable around the chest (per instructions). For example the dress I made my 9 yr old was a size 7 in the chest and length.  The dress fit perfect and she will be wearing it for Thanksgiving (yes, I know I am already thinking about the Holidays).

Here are the details on how to purchase this ADORABLE dress pattern:

1) Charlie will be released exclusively through the Sewing Rabbit’s Pattern Member Site July 1- 14, 2014.

Hello Beautiful,

a8

I can’t wait to share with you what the AMAZING Dana from MADE has just released! Her new pattern, The First Day Dress/Top. I can’t thank Dana enough for letting me test this NEW pattern. I mean this woman is the Queen of the blogging world and even more importantly, she is very sweet!!!

IMG_4127

Nitty Gritty: (this pattern has so much to offer)
*A-Line Dress or Top
*Swing Dress
*Swing Top with Peplum
*Swing Dress/Top with Front Placket
*4 ways to do the lining
*Sizes 2-10
*more details HERE

(wow that was a lot!)

IMG_4166

For my Test I choose the A-line Dress with no sleeves. I love the silhouette of this dress, however, the next dress I make will be 1 size larger. My daughter had a growth spurt and did not let me know, HA!  One of my favorite parts (I have so many) of the A-Line pattern was I only had to cut ONE pattern piece, yes ladies ONE!  Can I get a High Five?!?  Another favorite in working with this pattern was it showed me how to fully line the dress.  I love it when I can learn something new from a pattern.

Violette Field Threads Vivienne Review and Giveway

IMG_4050

Hello Ladies!!

I am so excited to share with you the NEW and AMAZING Vivienne Misses Pattern by Violette Fields Threads. I first want to say thank you to Violette Field Threads for the wonderful opportunity to sew and review one of your patterns. I have always been a fan of their patterns and Vivienne is no exception!

IMG_4069

Let first start with the nitty gritty:
*Blouse Sizing XXS-XXL
*Skirt sizing 0-16
*Short sleeve top
*Button Down the Back
*Overskirt and Underskirt are separate
*Overskirt closed by 4-5 buttons

IMG_4049 IMG_4042  IMG_4084

Ok, lets get to the fun stuff, YAY!
I made the Blouse with a Cotton Nylon Lace fabric that I have been hoarding from Jo-Ann. I am so into Coral right now so when I saw it I knew it needed to join my secret fabric stash (don’t tell my hubby). For the Overskirt I chose a fabric from the Arizona Collection called Tomahawk Stripe. I love this entire fabric collection from Art Gallery Fabric.  I mean what’s not to love, the colors are amazing and so is the their fabric. So here is the only modiciation I did to the underskirt, I used a premade ruffle fabric that I purchased from Ruffle Fabric, LLC. The fabric is so yummy and it saved me so much time, yahoo! I made the Underskirt per the pattern’s instructions then pinned the ruffle fabric to the skirt. You could of course use only the ruffle fabric as your Underskirt, but I wanted to save what I had for more projects! 😉

Violette Field Threads hit it out of the park with this outfit. Not only is it a well written pattern but you will be looking stylish when you get finished sewing it. It took me less then a day to sew up from start to finish. Don’t be intimidated to sew yourself a Vivienne , VFT does a great job in not only explaining but also visually show you step by step instructions. I chose the XS for the Blouse and Size 2 for the skirt and the fit was right on.

Two weeks ago was the International Quilt Show in Pittsburg, PA. I wish I was there but instead I stalked some of my Favorite Fabric Manufactures like Art Gallery and Michael Miller  on their Instagram pages . I also have a new crush: Cotton and Steel- can’t wait to get my hands on their Fabric!
Here are a few of my Favorites that will be on sale the later part of the year…

Butterflies Butterflies, Butterflies, need I say more.  I love both Color Ways and the solid in ‘Lips’ (great name) . Don’t you just love the gorgeous colors? They are so bright and Cheery. Perfect for Skirts and Dresses. This line will debut in August 2014.

I adore the animal print and the metallic. I am loving that there are so many fabric designers putting metallic touches in their fabric.   The colors are great for Late Summer to Fall clothing. Yummy (my husband laughs when I call fabric, “yummy”) . My Daughter loves animal print fabric so this collection is her favorite!

Teacher Appreciation Idea

So this week is Teacher Appreciation at my children’s school and as Room Mom It is been my job to try and come up with something that lets our Teachers know how special they are. I wish I could raise their pay or give them a trip to Hawaii but the last two years I have made a Thank You Candy card. Full of yummy chocolate, because the makes everything better, right?? Hmm…

Thanks to Pinterest who helped in this endeavor! 🙂

Here are a few Supplies that you will need (don’t forget Pinterest)

IMG_2310

I used a 22″ by 28″ White Poster Board I got at Joann Craft Store. After choosing what I wanted to say I purchased most of my Candy at Target and a local Candy shop. Lucky they had old fashion candy I could not find at Target. Also a glue gun or tape if you prefer.

IMG_2308

So here is my Finished Card…

IMG_2321-2

Thank you to all of the amazing Teachers that don’t get paid enough and deserve a trip to Hawaii!
